Setting up Eudora

What you need to get started:

These instructions are for Eudora 5.1 for Windows. Other versions of Eudora (including Eudora for Mac) are very similar but may have differences - documentation for other versions is available at the Eudora web site.

It is assumed that you already have Eudora installed on your computer.

Instructions

1. Open Eudora

The Eudora 5.1 icon looks like this:

You do not need to be connected to the Internet to set-up Eudora.

If this is the first time you have run Eudora, you will be offered the assistance of the Eudora Set-up Wizard, which will guide you through the set-up process. If you are using the Set-up Wizard, you may like to jump ahead to the settings section.

2. Set-up new account

From the Tools menu, select Options...

The Option window will appear...

2a. Enter settings

In the Options window you will now need to enter a number of settings, described below.

Real Name

This is the name that will appear in the "From" field when you send someone an email message. It does not need to be your full name - in fact it can be anything you like.

Return Address

Your full email address, e.g. blah@concordnet.com.au

Mail Server (Incoming)

mail.concordnet.com.au

Login Name

Your full email address, e.g. blah@concordnet.com.au

Mail Server (Outgoing)

mail.tsn.cc

When you have finished entering these settings, click OK.

2b. Entering your password

You check your email by clicking on the Check Mail button in the toolbar at the top of the screen:

When you check for new mail, you will be asked for your password:

If you do not want to enter your password every time you run Eudora, you can "save" your password using steps below...

2c. Saving your password

From the Tools menu, select Options...

When the Options window appears, click on the Checking Mail category on the left hand side. The window should now look like the one below.

Click on the Save password checkbox (as indicated by the red arrow). Then click OK.

Finished!

You will now be able to connect to the Internet and send and receive email from your account.
